CIO Tech Poll: Tech Priorities 2020

The CIO Tech Poll: Tech Priorities 2020 research outlines the technology areas that IT leaders will focus on in the upcoming year and measures the spending direction for each of these technologies. The results this year find that cybersecurity and analytics tools will see the largest spending increase and shares how IT executives plan to keep up with new technology implementations.

Key Findings:

  • Technology budgets continue to increase year over year with a smaller percentage expecting a budget decrease this year
  • 62% of IT leaders consider AI/machine learning to be a disruptive technology, and 47% expect AI/ML to have the most significant impact on their organization over the next three to five years
  • 34% say that their spending with new technology companies will increase during the next year while 38% expect their spending to remain the same
  • In order to evaluate emerging technology vendors, 65% of IT executives say they attend external events and/or conferences
